Now, the fishing business is still there, but net knitting craft is just preserved by the elderly, most are women. Partly because this craft has been narrowed in some localities, while the other reason is that the fishermen have invested in many high-powered boats, with more modern fishing methods.
Nevertheless, in the idle and billowy season without going out to the sea, the women in the coastal area still doing net knitting as a way to keep the craft, to both increase income and reduce the expense for buying nets for the next fishing season.
During the days going along the coastal communes in Quang Dien and Phong Dien districts, the photographer Anh Thao has recorded the photos of women and men patiently and skillfully knitting the nets in their leisure time.
