It can be said that Phu Loc has the most favorable geographical position among the districts and towns of Thua Thien Hue province because it is located in the middle of the two largest cities in the Middle East region, which are Hue City, and Da Nang City. It is 45 km north of Hue City and 55 km south of Da Nang. The Chan May-Lang Co economic zone within the Phu Loc district, which is one of the coastal economic zones established by the Prime Minister's decision, enjoys the highest investment incentives following Vietnamese law. There is the Phu Bai International Airport to the North and Da Nang International Airport to the South, which is pretty convenient to move. Futhermore, it has national traffic axes running through including National Highway 1A, North-South railway, and Cam Lo - La Son - Tuy Loan highway.

Phu Loc is an important point in socio-economic development and tourism connection among regions. In addition, it owns more than 60km of coastline, which is nearly half the length of the coast of the whole province, with many famous beaches such as Binh An, Ham Rong, Canh Duong, Bai Chuoi, Son Cha island area, and Lang Co Bay (a member of the world beautiful bay club). In recent years, many national and provincial investment projects have been implemented in the Phu Loc district. In particular, the highlight is the project to upgrade National Highway 1A, La Son - Tuy Loan expressway, Chan May deep-water port, Tunnels No.1 and No.2 of Hai Van Pass as well as many infrastructure development works such as Highway 49, the road along the Lap An lagoon and many works of traffic, urban embellishment, lighting, etc. They have made Phu Loc’s urban and rural more prosperous, spacious, clean, and beautiful, contributing to the development of tourism.

Besides, taking advantage of its own potential and advantages, Phu Loc district has focused on the comprehensive development of fields and shifted the economic structure towards increasing the proportion of the tourism-service sector. In which, the district concentrates on promoting the important role of Lang Co, the national tourist area of Canh Duong - Bach Ma - Lang Co - Hai Van, the coastal areas, lagoons, streams, and waterfalls to appeal to economic elements to investing in exploiting and developing diverse forms of eco-tourism, sea tourism, lagoon tourism, spiritual tourism, resort tourism, community tourism and development of services in Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone.

Nowadays, Phu Loc is gradually becoming an attractive and unique destination for domestic and international tourists with many types such as eco-tourism, resort tourism, spiritual tourism, community-based tourism, etc. Typically, there are national and international-class tourism areas such as Laguna (which has been approved by the Prime Minister for casino business), Vedana Lagoon, and many tourist attractions associated with nature such as Nhi Ho Waterfall, Bach Ma Village, Khe Su Stream, Truoi Lake, Tien Stream, etc. These are also attractive destinations in the summer for many tourists to visit, explore and enjoy, especially young people. Many agricultural products of Phu Loc District have local brands such as Cau Hai Lagoon's Seafood, Loc Thuy Cajeput Essential Oil, Truoi Tea, Baccaurea, Thanh Tra (a grapefruit variety), Banh loc (Rice dumpling cake), Truoi's Banh uot (steamed thin rice pancake), products made from Roxburgh fig, etc., which are associated with tourism products. Moreover, there are the district's ten products recognized as OCOP including Me Em Fermented Anchovy Sauce, Xuan Anh Anchovy Fish Sauce, My A Dried Fish, Truong Hai Cajeput Essential Oil, Nhat Tan Cajeput Essential Oil, Vinh Hung Cantaloupe, My A Organic Peanut Oil (3-star products), Bach Ma Wine 1932, Roxburgh Fig Tea Wine, Bach Ma Wine (4-star product).

Continue to promote economic development, especially tourism

With a favorable and strategic location, Phu Loc District now concentrates on developing comprehensive socio-economic, continuing to improve the business investment environment as well as mobilizing all resources to effectively exploit potentials and comparative advantages for sustainable economic development. The orientation is to take tourism as a spearhead economic sector and simultaneously to build Lang Co - Canh Duong National Tourism Area into a high-quality general tourism center, reaching regional and international levels. It must be associated with effectively exploiting the potential of Bach Ma National Park to operate tours about entertainment on the sea, eco-tourism, and the cuisine on Cau Hai lagoon combined with tourism of Hue's ancient capital. The district strives to account for about 63% of the proportion of the service sector (attracting about 50% of total social workers).

Units and departments of Phu Loc District affirmed that they would continue to strongly improve the business investment environment in association with promoting administrative reform and serving businesses and the people. It creates favorable conditions for economic sectors to develop, especially FDI enterprises investing in Chan May-Lang Co economic zone.

Besides, Phu Loc District People's Committee held a Tourism Promotion Conference in 2023 on May 19th, which aims to promote tourism potentials and strengths to domestic and international tourists as well as introduce typical local tourism products to businesses, contributing to attracting investment and promoting tourism development.

The conference includes many activities and events to promote tourism from May 18 to 20, such as the Composition Camp "The sacred Bach Ma" (at 9.00 am on May 18 at Bach Ma National Park), Space to display and introduce local tourism products within the framework of the conference on May 19; The program to visit and experience the tourism products at Bach Ma National Park (at 2.00 pm on May 19). Especially, the 3rd traditional boat racing festival in 2023 would take place at 6.00 am on May 20 at Au Thuyen, Loc Tri commune, Phu Loc district.

It is an opportunity for Phu Loc district to boost cooperation in tourism development and improve the efficiency of tourism development connection activities between districts, towns, and cities in the province. At the same time, it is a good chance opportunity to call for investors to implement tourism projects in the district, thereby contributing to socio-economic growth, and attracting more and more tourists to Phu Loc district.
